Events - Oval Bar

The Oval Bar is practically on the parade route for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. We are located a (very short) stones throw from O’Connell Street and the GPO main viewing area. The atmosphere around here on the 17th of March every year has to be experienced to be believed! For the best ‘craic’ in Dublin City be sure to pop by and soak-in some of the festival atmosphere. And if you haven’t tried our traditional Irish Stew yet you really are missing out, we get requests far and wide for the recipe…but it remains a very closely guarded secret…

We love sport here at The Oval Bar, patrons heading to and from GAA headquarters Croke Park love to pop in to settle their nerves before a big match or celebrate/commiserate after the big match! We always have a friendly shoulder to cry on should your county not prevail, UP THE DUBS! ‘Croker’ also plays host to international bands on the live music touring scene and we love to get in on the atmosphere, belting out their music and getting the fans ready for the gig.

Being so city-central The Oval is an ideal drop in and meeting point for revelers heading to The Abbey Theatre, The Gate Theatre, The Academy or any number of other venues, theatres, cinemas, clubs and shows dotted around beautiful Dublin. The LUAS (Middle Abbey Street) stop is literally seconds away from our front door, as are all of the best city centre shopping outlets and department stores!

As you will have noted from our history The Oval has a deep rooted relationship with Dublin as she has grown and grown, blossoming into one of the finest and most unique cities in the world. In 2016 Dublin (and Ireland) will celebrate the 100 year Centenary Commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising, the main parade will be held on Easter Sunday which is on Sunday 27th of March 2016 but there will be a whole host of events happening throughout Dublin and Ireland to add to the centenary programme. Easter week 2016 is sure to be a fantastic time to visit Dublin City and share in the five Ireland 2016 themes: Remember, Reconcile, Imagine, Present and Celebrate. We cannot wait to be part of it.
